Film mogul gives Reuters rare interview

Dreamworks’ CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg gave Reuters an exclusive multimedia interview on May 11 in which he voiced predictions that 3-D is here to stay this time and will provide a strong revenue stream for film studios and technology companies. Katzenberg said he expected 3-D movie premiums to keep rising while the cost of 3-D movies will decrease with the demand for 3D televisions being produced by companies like Samsung, LG Electronics and Sony expected to reach 15.6 million in 2013 from an estimated 1.2 million this year. He also said his Dreamworks studio, maker of the popular Shrek franchise, would increase its production of films slightly to three a year.
