China reveals climate negotiating targets exclusively to Reuters

Reuters carried exclusive news on Dec. 9 on the climate negotiating position of China, the world’s biggest C02 emitter. China’s top climate envoy told Reuters he hoped the United States - the world’s biggest polluter per capita - would toughen its climate change target and he said a United Nations proposal for a $10 billion a year climate fund for developing nations was not enough. China’s envoy also expressed readiness to discuss a global target of halving emissions by 2050. This sort of intelligence is key for carbon markets and company, energy and macro investors trying to figure out likely outcomes of the Copenhagen climate talks.
