Reuters calls the Thai crisis right

Reuters stood its ground in accurately reporting that thousands of anti-government protesters in Thailand would maintain their protest and reject an overture from the government to end a deadly two-month crisis. In a story on Monday, May 10, Reuters reported why the protests would persist. On the same day, rival agencies and major newspapers predicted a compromise between street protesters and the government was imminent. Reuters was proven right, a result of dogged reporting and refusal to accept government spin. This was the second major Thai development where Reuters took a different direction from its competitors and was proven correct on a crisis that is of critical interest to investors sizing up opportunities in a country that last year was one of Asia’s best-performing emerging markets.
