Reuters breaks news that Louisiana judge agreed to block Obama’s 6 month moratorium for new drilling

Reuters broke the much-anticipated news on June 22 that a U.S. judge in Louisiana had agreed to block the Obama administration’s six-month moratorium for new deepwater oil drilling, giving Reuters clients a pivotal two-minute jump on the news that the administration had lost in the key ruling. That news helped propel shares of drilling and oil companies, like Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc. and was widely broadcast around the world including on CNBC. Bloomberg News followed two minutes afterward with the judge’s ruling, AP was three minutes behind and Dow Jones was forced to cite CNBC six minutes after Reuters. Jeremy followed that up two days later with a four-minute beat when the judge rejected the administration’s request to put his ruling on hold pending appeal.
