Reuters exclusives on Baidu06.29.2010
Reuters broke news on June 29 that Baidu, China’s largest search engine, was getting ready for its first ever US hiring spree, with plans to hire 30 software engineers from Silicon Valley. The Reuters story got global play, with pickups by CNN, CNBC, Barron’s Blog and various other online media. Dow Jones and the Financial Times had to wait until the next day to match the news. An interview with Baidu on July 1 gave further exclusive insight in the Google-China spat, with CFO Jennifer Li telling Reuters it was expecting only marginal gains if Google was ousted from the market, banking instead on the industry’s rapid growth. |
