Reuters scores interview with Ecuador President Rafael Correa

Reuters scored a strong multi-media interview with Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa during his visit to Caracas on July 6 that revealed that sensitivity over a 2008 Colombian bombing raid on a FARC camp in Ecuador had not subsided and that an arrest warrant still existed against Colombian President-elect Juan Manuel Santos, threatening his arrest if he visits Ecuador. (Santos, as defense minister, supervised the 2008 raid). The interview was widely picked by media across the Andean region and stirred the simmering diplomatic pot, drawing a conciliatory response directly from Santos. Correa also gave an update on Ecuador’s growth prospects for the year and laid out his vision of what he calls “21st Century Socialism”.
