07.17.2010
Reuters was first to report Bulgaria had agreed to speed up construction of Russias South Stream gas pipeline project after it clinched a deal to get lower gas supplies. The project has huge significance as a rival to the EUs Nabucco pipeline scheme to avoid depending on Russian gas and shows the ambitions of the poorest EU country to enter the supply chain. News energy giant Gazprom will lower gas prices and sign the next deal with Bulgaria directly, cutting out intermediaries, hit Reuters screens some 17 minutes ahead of Russian news agencies, while international competitors had to pick up local agencies to match the story.
