Reuters first with Jordan’s 100,000T wheat purchase

With disruption to Russian wheat supplies pushing up global prices and focusing attention on the needs of major wheat importers, a Reuters correspondent got a Jordanian grain official to reveal the level of Jordan’s wheat reserves on Aug. 10, along with a forecast that Jordan would be buying more expensive U.S. or European origin wheat in its Aug. 12 tender. That prediction was borne out when Reuters exclusively covered the tender committee in Amman which chose to buy 100,000 tonnes of German wheat at $322-$324 per tonne.
