Reuters beat competitors on KNOC not raising $2.6 bln Dana bid

Reuters beat competitors on Aug. 24 with news that state-run Korea National Oil Corp (KNOC) does not plan to raise its $2.6 billion unsolicited offer for Dana Petroleum. Reuters doorstepped KNOC CEO at an oil meeting and had the first official comment from KNOC, quelling market speculation that it may consider such plans as Dana prepares defence strategy to get higher price from KNOC. The story was picked up by Dow Jones and forced KNOC to issue an official statement hours later to confirm media reports.
