First with stem cell research ruling

When a U.S. judge on Aug 23 issued a ruling barring further federal funding of human embryonic stem cell research, Reuters was 40 minutes ahead of its nearest competitor with the news. We were ahead the next day also with news that the Obama administration would appeal against the ruling. On Aug 25, we were first to focus on Geron, a publicly traded company which had just weeks before been given the go-ahead for the first human trial of these cells, interviewing the company’s CEO who offered insight into the nature of the research, its future commercial promise and weighed in knowledgeably about potential future legislation.
