Brazil’s Foreign Relations Minister Celso Amorim reveals thoughts on revaluation of the Yuan.

In an exclusive interview on Sept. 21, Brazil’s Foreign Relations Minister Celso Amorim was one of the first G20 officials to suggest the United States would have a hard time gathering international support for the revaluation of the yuan. When asked about U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner’s calls for increased international pressure over China, Amorim told Reuters that “wasn’t the right way for finding solutions.” Other G20 officials expressed similar opinions on the following days, including South Korean Finance Minister Yoon Jeung-hyun, who ruled out the yuan as a G20 topic in Seoul.
