Reuters beats competitors on testimony of Bernanke, other regulators

Reuters was first on Sept 29 with news on what top regulators, such as Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, would tell the Senate Banking Committee in a hearing on the new Dodd-Frank financial reforms. Reuters obtained the testimony the afternoon before the hearing and beat Bloomberg and Dow Jones on reporting what the Fed, Federal Deposit Insurance Corp, Commodities Futures Trading Commission and Securities and Exchange Commission would tell lawmakers. The story provided markets with an early insight into how the regulators will implement the law. After the story was issued, the Fed released Bernanke’s testimony early because of the Reuters article.
