Reuters first to report surprise move by Al Gore’s attorney to lead the legal fight against BP

Reuters was alone with the news on Sept 27 that David Boies, the attorney who led Al Gore’s Supreme Court battle for the 2000 presidential election, is trying to gain a leadership role in the legal suits against BP over the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Tipped off by sources to the move, Reuters was first with the news on the closely watched proceedings. Lawsuits have been filed around the country against BP and others as a result of the oil spill, the largest in U.S. history. The Wall Street Journal’s report did not have the news on Boies and instead focused on relatively unknown attorneys.
