Reuters scoops DBS-Nikko asset management deal

Reuters scored an exclusive on Oct 5 when it reported that Japan’s Nikko Asset Management was in talks to buy DBS Asset management in a deal that would also involve Singapore’s DBS Group taking a small stake in Nikko. Dow Jones was at least 20 minutes behind and Bloomberg picked up one hour and 30 minutes later. The scoop, based on a source with direct knowledge of the deal, was widely picked up in the regional media and on CNBC and other financial websites.
