Reuters first with news that US FTC has cleared Google in privacy probe
10.27.2010
Reuters was first to report on Oct 27 that the U.S. Federal Trade Commission has cleared Google in an investigation into whether its Street View cars had broken the law when they collected emails and other personal data while taking photographs of city streets. The move was a victory for Google, which faces multiple challenges at home and abroad over whether its Street View maps service violates privacy rules. Reuters broke the news on the closely watched probe after getting a tip from a source that the FTC had sent a closing letter to Google. Reuters` alert was 11 minutes ahead of Bloomberg and 20 minutes ahead of Dow Jones.
