Reuters first with Deutsche Bank`s Anshu Jain facing stiffer contest for top job
11.17.2010
Reuters was the first to document a crucial power shift at Deutsche Bank, Germany’s flagship lender, that has created competition for the bank’s top job for investment bank darling Anshu Jain, formerly seen as a favourite for the position. Deutsche Bank Chief Executive Josef Ackermann’s succession is one of the most closely-watched stories in the region, and Reuters was first to report that a hitherto hardly noticed candidate for the top job, Hugo Baenziger, had emerged as the company’s purchase of Deutsche Postbank and a shift in the industry environment increased need for regulatory experts. Several high-level German bankers called the Reuters reporter asking for more information, and a number of newspapers reprinted the story a day later.
