News Corp`s No.2 chief tells Reuters a sale of MySpace is possible

News Corps No.2 executive, Chase Carey, exclusively told the Reuters Global Media Summit on Nov 29 that his company could sell off MySpace once a revamp of the site is completed. MySpace was still visited by around 60 million people in October, though it has been overtaken by other social networks like Facebook and Twitter. Media watchers have recently speculated that News Corp is seeking to sell the site or partner with other digital media companies such as Yahoo and AOL. Carey told Reuters a sale or partnership are two of a number of options the company would consider. The news was widely picked up by our competitors, including News Corps own Wall Street Journal, AllThingsDigital and Barron`s, as well as internationally in The Guardian, Daily Mail and The Independent. The story was also carried by numerous tech blogs including Business Insider and TheWrap.
