Reuters investor poll highlighting euro zone fears cited in media

A Reuters poll of British fund managers in the midst of the euro zone’s debt crisis showed investors were fleeing the region’s debt in droves and was widely picked up. The Nov 30 poll of 11 leading fund managers at the UK’s largest institutions representing billions of pounds of assets found the average weighting to euro zone bonds had fallen sharply since the previous month. The poll also showed UK debt is being treated as a relative safe haven as allocations increased. The story was picked up by international publications. Britain’s Daily Telegraph newspaper cited the poll, naming Reuters, in its front page coverage of the euro zone debt crisis and fears of contagion from Ireland to Portugal and Spain. Reuters clients saw it first, however, as there was an embargo for distribution to media clients and the Telegraph’s readers had to wait until the following day.
