Reuters first to report that U.S. sent more subpoenas in insider trading probe

As the U.S. insider trading investigation picks up speed, Reuters reported exclusively on Dec 7 that the government had sent out more subpoenas to hedge funds and other investment firms, following up on a first round sent two weeks ago. The story illustrated how the insider trading probe was intensifying as investigators reviewed expert network firms and how they helped connect investors and consultants to generate trading ideas. U.S. stocks, which had rallied earlier in the day, retreated after Reuters report. CNBC immediately picked up the news, citing Reuters. Bloomberg also cited the Reuters report as a reason for the stock markets fall.
