Reuters alone on hefty EU antitrust fine for LCD makers
12.06.2010
Reuters was alone on Dec 6 with news that EU antitrust regulators were set to slap a fine of 600-700 million euros on five LCD makers, among them the worlds No. 2, with the biggest penalty hitting Taiwans biggest player. The European Commission confirmed the news two days later. Bloomberg cited the Reuters story while Dow Jones was unseen. A lawyer advising a company involved in the cartel called for more details. The story prompted Taiwans ministry of economic affairs to say it would try its best to help the companies deal with the fines, Taiwanese news channel CNA said on its website as it cited the Reuters story. Chi Meis shares ended down 0.6 percent versus a gain of 0.7 percent the previous day.
