First to report from disputed temple during Cambodia-Thailand crisis

On Feb. 8 Reuters was the first international media organization to report from the disputed 900-year-old cliff-top Preah Vihear temple at the heart of recent fighting between Thai and Cambodian troops. Reuters was also first to refute Cambodian claims that Thai soldiers had destroyed a wing of the temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site, during the fighting. Reuters was also a day ahead of the Associated Press, AFP and the New York Times in reporting a detailed account of the condition of the 11-century Hindu temple in a scene piece as Cambodian troops dug bunkers and braced for more clashes.
