Daewoo shares jump after Reuters report on $4bln Maersk shipbuilding deal02.18.2011
Shares of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Engineering jumped as much as 8.3 percent on Feb. 18 after Reuters exclusively reported that the world`s No.2 shipbuilder had won a deal to build 10 container ships, worth $2 billion, for A.P. Moeller-Maersk AS and was in talks on another $2 billion order. The news lifted shares of Korean shipbuilders, with the sub-index closing up 5 percent on prospects for improved global trade and order outlooks. Korean and international media including Bloomberg picked up the Reuters story, while Dow Jones took almost an hour to match the report. |
