Reuters beat competition handily on May 31 with news of Mongolian Mining Corp`s $464 million purchase of a coking coal mine from a Hong Kong business group, with the value of the deal set to rise as much as $950 million upon the meeting of some parameters. Reuters’ story sent Bloomberg and Wall Street Journal reporters on a late night chase, and it took them more than one hour to play catch up. MMC confirmed the Reuters story on Wednesday and its shares rose as much as 3.7 percent when trading started.
