Reuters Insider captures rare Trichet "rant"

Yesterday afternoon, during his routine monthly press conference, the normally mild-mannered ECB president Jean-Claude Trichet took exception to a provocative question and launched on what can only be described as a “rant”. No one had seen him do anything like this before and no doubt the fact that he is a month from retiring contributed to the feeling that he could finally let it rip. Reuters Insider made the clip available within minutes. It rapidly went viral, appearing in the FT’s Alphaville and other sites almost immediately. The video received record hits on Reuters Insider.
