Reuters first on USA wanting to keep lid on bank stress tests04.07.2009
Reuters revealed on April 7 that regulators were looking for ways to keep a lid on the stress tests being conducted at the 19 largest U.S. banks. Reuters reported the Treasury was aiming to delay any public disclosure of the results during bank earnings season, which could create havoc in the markets. CNBC read Reuters headlines, and news sites Drudge Report and Wonkette prominently featured links to the story. Reuters followed up several days later with a story about how the Treasury was specifically asking banks not to talk about the test results when issuing their earnings. |
