Reuters reports Paul Allen’s Charter is preparing bankruptcy filing01.30.2009
Reuters was first to report late on Jan 30 that U.S. cable television system operator Charter Communications, struggling with a $21 billion debt load, is preparing a bankruptcy filing. The action comes after the company missed a $73.7 million interest payment in mid-January. Battered shares of Charter, whose largest single investor is Microsoft Corp co-founder Paul Allen, fell an additional 17 percent to 7 U.S. cents after the news. |
