Reuters was first to report Nortel’s actual bankruptcy filing on Jan.14. The filing marked a critical turn for the once high-flying phone equipment maker. Nortel’s notes maturing in 2016 lost nearly 40 percent of their value after the filing, and its shares lost two-thirds of their remaining value.
