Reuters bests Bloomberg on key US C02 emissions forecast
08.11.2009
Reuters beat Bloomberg by 15 minutes on August 11 with an inaugural carbon dioxide emissions forecast by the statistics branch of the U.S. Department of Energy. Careful reading of monthly forecasts turned up the first forecast of this type, which showed an expected 5 percent decline in US carbon emissions this year and a small rebound next year. Emissions forecasts are important for both traders and policy makers as they try to create a market in the world’s second largest greenhouse gas polluter. Such data has market as well as political implications as policy makers try to come to an agreement for both rich and poor nations to act on climate.
