Reuters scores exclusive interview with former Lehman CEO, Dick Fuld

With the one-year anniversary of the collapse of Lehman Brothers only just over a week away, the firm’s former CEO Dick Fuld talked to Reuters exclusively over the past few days (Sept 4,5) about how he believes he has been “pummeled” and “dumped on” for his role in the failure. It is believed to be the first time that Fuld has opened up to the media since Lehman filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 15 last year — a big scoop for Reuters given the world’s business media is currently focused on the anniversary. His only other public comments were in testimony in Washington last October. Fuld told Reuters that nobody wants to hear his side of the story. “Nobody wants to hear it, especially not from me,” he said. The man who was excoriated for his role in the financial crisis indicated that he is concerned that he will again be targeted as the anniversary approaches. “I want to get through the 15th and I want to get all that crap out of the way — when all the news comes out, all the books come out,” he said. The story was picked up and mentioned dozens of times in major media around the world, as well as on Twitter and many blogs.
