A smart win on the boss of top Formula One team quitting

Reuters beat all comers to motor racing’s biggest news of the year when team McLaren’s long serving chief Ron Dennis announced on Jan 16 that he was stepping down. Reuters alert moved within two minutes of Dennis telling a small group of journalist that he was quitting. The story was quickly picked up by major news organisations around the world. Dennis has been one of the most influential figures in the sport for a well over a decade and guided the team to a string of Formula One driver’s titles including last year when Briton Lewis Hamilton triumphed. Their partnership dated back to when Hamilton was a schoolboy 11 years ago.
