McCain interview sets talk running on who will be next U.S. Treasury Secretary

In an exclusive interview with Reuters on Oct 2, US presidential candidate John McCain listed investor Warren Buffett and former eBay chief Meg Whitman as potential Treasury secretaries in his administration while declining to say if he would consider asking current Secretary Henry Paulson to stay. It was a comprehensive interview in which McCain said, controversially, that to strengthen the dollar, the US must “stop mortgaging” its economy to China. He also said that the US must rein in protectionist sentiment and that he would do whatever was required to move post-Kyoto climate change talks forward.
