Reuters first with Taylor, Bean & Whitaker bankruptcy filing
08.24.2009
Reuters was first to report on Aug. 24 that Taylor, Bean & Whitaker, one of the largest U.S. mortgage lenders, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after a scandal that led to a U.S. regulator suspending its business and forcing it to stop making home loans. Taylor Bean also tried to make an investment in Colonial BancGroup but pulled out, ultimately leading to that bank`s failure. The bankruptcy affects more than $1 billion of assets and debts. We reported the news 31 minutes before Dow Jones Newswires, which initially picked up CNBC re-reporting the Reuters news, while Bloomberg was 1 hour 16 minutes later than Reuters.
