Reuters broke news on IMF help for crisis-hit countries10.13.2008
Reuters was exclusive on Oct. 13 with the news that countries were lining at the International Monetary Fund for financing and policy help. As weekend meetings of the IMF and World Bank were wrapping up, IMF officials told our Reuters that the Ukraine, Hungary, Serbia and Iceland were in discussions with the international agency over financial aid to get them through the crisis. Ukraine now is finalising an IMF deal worth as much as $14 billion and Iceland is working on a package worth about $6 billion. Other news organisations were chasing Reuters on the story. |
