Reuters breaks news of the latest US healthcare reform proposals, impacting insurer shares
09.08.2009
Reuters was hours ahead of the competition on Sept 8 with key details on Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus highly anticipated health reform proposal, the last of several major draft bills to overhaul health insurers, hospitals and other companies. Reuters got the story out more than 2 hours ahead of the Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones. The Reuters alerts were credited on CNBC, with Bloomberg picking up CNBCs alerts and citing Reuters. Baucus plan, which investors and others have been awaiting for months, pressured health insurance companies stocks, such as Aetna, UnitedHealth and Wellpoint, which were down between 1-4 percent on the day.
