Reuters ahead with coverage of tax crackdown on UBS clients

Reuters was ahead on several key developments in the U.S. government crackdown on clients of UBS who have allegedly dodged paying taxes. On Sept 17, Reuters exclusively reported that U.S. clients of UBS AG with accounts overseas had been warned that their personal account details may be turned over to U.S. tax authorities, after obtaining a copy of the letter. CNBC ran the headlines and Bloomberg was forced to cite Reuters with their own headlines two minutes later. Then on Sept 26, Reuters was the only major news organization to report a top U.S. government attorney as saying the authorities are stepping up their prosecutions and expect new cases to be made public every couple of weeks.
