Reuters first with Honduran President's attempt to regain power

Reuters was first with the news that Honduran President Manuel Zelaya, toppled in a coup in June, had sneaked back into Honduras on September 21 in a bid to regain power. Zelaya took refuge in tghe Brazilian embassy, starting a tense standoff with the de facto government that replaced him and now wants him arrested. Then, Reuters had an exclusive interview with the country’s de facto leader, Roberto Micheletti . Reuters was ahead with news of the first protester death in this round of the crisis and was hours ahead of competitors on Sept 27 when Micheletti pushed through a decree suspending civil liberties and allowing the government to shut opposition media stations. A Reuters photographer managed to get inside the Brazilian embassy right at the beginning of the crisis and has been there since, providing a huge play for photos , video and good details for text coverage. One great photo of Zelaya asleep got huge play including on the front page of the New York Times.
