Reuters well ahead with new twists in the DNO-Kurdish battle

Shares in Norwegian oil producer DNO rebounded nearly 10 percent on Sept. 24 off the back of a Reuters story quoting Kurdistan`s foreign minister telling Reuters that the suspension of its licenses was not permanent and that it would eventually be allowed to resume operations. Reuters was alone with the comments which were welcomed by investors after the suspension caused the company to lose half its stock market value the previous day. We then scooped local and international media with news that the Oslo bourse met a senior Iraqi Kurdish official on Sept. 28 to discuss controversial Kurdish transactions in DNO. The meeting was a break in a big international investment story, since DNO was one of the few Western firms producing oil in Kurdistan before its operations were suspended. Reuters was also well ahead with other key comments from Kurdish officials and the CEO of the Oslo bourse.
