Scoop on concern over Euro strength

Scoop on concern over Euro strength

Reuters caught the European Union Commissioner for Monetary Affairs Joaquin Almunia on the hop early on Oct. 1 in Gothenburg, Sweden, getting the scoop that euro zone finance ministers were pressing for talks on euro currency strength at the G7 finance ministers meetings in Istanbul. The euro fell on the news, which no other news organisation could match. Bloomberg and Dow Jones both had to attribute market moves during the day to the Reuters report on the euro, further showing that Reuters was the place to be for market-moving news.
