Reuters sent correspondents to some of the areas worst hit by the U.S. housing crisis . and produced a package of exclusive stories on the extent of damage that credit collapse has wrought upon families, communities, job opportunities and hence the overall economy. The package, which ran during the week of Oct 12, warned that despite some optimistic signs, a sustained recovery may be several years away, delaying a healthy rebound in growth. It proved prescient.
