Reuters breaks news about AIG talks to sell part of ILFC

Reuters broke news on Oct. 12 that AIG was in talks to sell 10 percent of its commercial aircraft fleet to the unit’s chief, Steven Udvar-Hazy. International Lease Finance Corp (ILFC) has more than 1000 aircraft in its portfolio with a book value of over $40 billion. Hazy is backed by a group of private equity firms, including Onex and Greenbriar Equity, which were the final bidders for the business but could not pull off a deal for all of ILFC. Bloomberg had a headline 6 minutes later confirming AIG`s talks with Hazy for a part of ILFC. It followed the next day with details such as the size of the portfolio being talked about. Dow Jones did not have the story.
