Solar shares rise after Reuters exclusive on German moves

Shares of German solar power companies rose sharply after Reuters was ahead with news on Oct. 11 that cuts in government solar rates would be modest to avoid harming the fast-growing industry. SolarWorld was up 5.5 percent, Q-Cells gained 3.9 percent, Wacker Chemie rose 2.2 percent and SMA Solar Tech gained 1.6 percent. Commerzbank analyst Robert Schramm put out a research note citing the Reuters report, saying: This is quite important news. This confirms our assumption of no or negligible extra tariff cuts for 2010.
