11.06.2009
Reuters gave investors sharp and fast insight into the U.S. payrolls report on Nov. 6 for the first time providing analysis examining the implications of a surprise leap in the U.S. unemployment rate to 10.2 percent, smashing the double-digit level for the first time in more than 26 years. The analysis hit the screens barely 30 minutes after the data was released and homed in on several important aspects of the data, including the rise in temporary hirings which offered a hint that companies were looking for more staff, the political implications for President Barack Obama still smarting from Republican state election victories and implications for the Federal Reserve as it tries to gauge the health of the US economy before raising near-zero interest rates.
