Obama sets scene for Asia trip in Reuters interview

U.S. President Barack Obama laid out his agenda for his vital trip to Asia in an interview with Reuters on Nov 9. In direct comments to China, Obama said he would raise the issue of its undervalued currency and urge Beijing to help rebalance the global economy. Cooperation on that issue would define the nature of the U.S.-China relationship, the president warned. The interview made waves across Asia and was widely cited in the U.S. media. Obama’s handlers pick carefully who he talks to and they explained they gave the interview to Reuters because of the thoroughness of our coverage of foreign policy issues.
