Reuters scores interview with British PM Gordon Brown

Reuters scored an exclusive interview with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown on Feb 12 in which he addressed Britain’s economic outlook, the government’s exit strategy from fiscal stimulus and Britain’s relationship with the single European currency. During the interview on board the prime minister’s plane on the way back from an EU summit, Brown also gave his assessment of the opposition Conservatives’ election platform. Reuters access to British policymakers in the run up to this year’s general election has been far greater than any other international news provider. This British election, more than any other in recent times, is being closely watched by markets with credit rating agencies warning that unless the deficit is brought under control Britain’s triple-A rating may be at risk.
