Reuters breaks news on new climate talks
04.07.2010
Reuters clients were the first to learn on April 7 that the world`s major economies and greenhouse gas emitters would meet on April 18-19 to advance global climate change talks. U.S. climate negotiator Todd Stern told Reuters that Washington would host the meeting — the first since the chaotic December climate summit in Copenhagen. It had not been announced previously. Stern also outlined in the exclusive interview what he believed UN climate talks could achieve in 2010 after the Copenhagen summit failed to reach a legally binding deal to curb emissions. The story was important to energy and carbon markets as well as general news readers who follow climate change and international diplomacy.
