Reuters breaks news on Angolan oil exports

Reuters was first with news on April 19 of much lower than expected Angolan oil exports, almost 45 minutes ahead of its nearest competitor. Tipped off by a source at a large European oil company of the details of two key production streams, Reuters used its crude oil database to tally the national export total and moved a quick story. West African crude oil differentials were supported by the news on Reuters, stabilising after several days of heavy falls as traders digested the smaller export programme. Much of Angola’s crude oil typically heads to Asia and tighter supplies can help support markets in Singapore and into China.
