Reuters exclusive poll shows late surge for Conservatives in UK Election
05.03.2010
Reuters has been providing clients with a unique insight into voting intentions in key swing seats in the run up to the British elections. Reuters commissioned five exclusive polls from respected pollsters Ipsos MORI into how voters in so-called marginal constituencies planned to vote. These are the crucial constituencies in the election because they include many of the seats the opposition Conservatives need to win from the ruling Labour party to ensure victory. The Reuters/Ipsos MORI polls have had good play throughout the campaign but the one on May 3rd — three days before polling day — was the first indication from an opinion poll that the Tories were enjoying a late swing and could be on course for outright victory on the May 6 election rather than a “hung parliament” as polls had been predicting for months. The poll was picked up immediately by the BBC and political bloggers and Tweeters.
